EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: November 2014

“TE DEUM”

OPENING SONG: “Our Way, Our Truth, Our Life” (may be omitted if the “Te Deum” is sung)

SILENT ADORATION

INTRODUCTION

At the conclusion of the celebration of the Centenary of the Foundation of the Society of Saint Paul and of the entire Pauline Family, marked intensely and mysteriously by the “paschal sign” of the passing into eternal life of our dearly beloved Fr. Silvio Sassi, we offer to God our “Te Deum” for the abundant riches of grace bestowed upon the Pauline Family.

“TE DEUM” (sung or recited by the assembly)

You are God; we praise you.

You are the Lord: we acclaim you.

You are the eternal Father.

All creation worships you.

To you, all the angels, all the powers of heaven:

cherubim and seraphim sing in endless praise.

       Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might;

heaven and earth are full of your glory.

The glorious company of apostles praises you.

The noble fellowship of prophets praises you.

The white-robed army of martyrs praises you.

Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you:

       Father, of majesty unbounded;

your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,

and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the king of glory,

the eternal Son of the Father.

When you became man to set us free

you did not spurn the Virgin's womb.

You overcame the sting of death,

and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

You are seated at God's right hand in glory.

We believe that you will come to be our judge.

Come then, Lord, and help your people,

bought with the price of your own blood,

and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting.

FIRST READING: Rev 7:9-12 “A great multitude from every nation, race, people

and tongue”

PSALM 67 (sung)

ALLELUIA – GOSPEL: Jn 12:20-26 “Unless a Grain of Wheat”

HOMILY and/or PERSONAL REFLECTION

PRAYER: (Cf. The Prayers of the Pauline Family, p. 191)

I firmly believe, my God, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as I believe in the resurrection of the body. Every day I want to arise to a new life so as to merit to arise in the glory of the last day.

SONG: “Unless a Grain of Wheat” (Bernadette Farrell) or another suitable song

WORDS OF BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE (Cf. Abundantes Divitiae n. 43, 65, 209)

Divine Providence worked according to His ordinary divine method: mightily and sweetly: preparing the ways and making them converge according to His purpose; casting light and providing the help needed; making His hour be awaited in peace; always starting out in a stable, acting in such a natural manner so as to make it hard to distinguish between nature and grace, though certainly with both ... (...)

The Pauline Family has a vast opening onto the whole world in its entire apostolate: study, apostolate, piety, action, editions. The editions are for all categories of people. All the questions and events are judged in the light of the Gospel. The aspirations are those of the Heart of Jesus in the Mass. In the one apostolate of “knowing Jesus Christ”, every apostolate and every good work is to be enlightened and sustained. All nations are to be carried in the Pauline Family's heart (...)

I feel the gravity, before God and men, for the mission confided to me by the Lord, who if He could have found a person more unworthy and incapable than I, would have preferred that person. This, however, is for me and for everyone the guarantee that the Lord willed and wanted it done, just as the artist takes any brush whatsoever, costing a few cents and blind in regard to the work of art to be done, be it even a beautiful image of the Divine Master, Jesus Christ. We are founded upon the Church and upon the Vicar of Jesus Christ. This conviction inspires security, joy and courage.

PERSONAL REFLECTION – EXAMEN – PERSONAL PRAYER

PRAYER: By Blessed James Alberione

I bless you, my God, with all peoples and nations. May they thank you and adore you! In the universe you have recorded your greatness, in the human conscience your law, in the Bible your eternal promises. You are always lovable, eternal faithful God! You fulfilled your promises announced to the prophets. I bless you, Holy Spirit, who overshadowed the Virgin Mary. I bless you, Son of God, Word made flesh, for you came into this world to establish a kingdom of truth, holiness and grace. I adore this mystery of power and love. Open my mind to discern the voice of such a loving Father.

Brief Intro to the Rosary

Jesus Master-Shepherd is the Father's totally “consecrated one”. Blessed Alberione began to pray in 1908 that a religious family might come into being – a family that would completely belong to Jesus the Divine Master, present in the Eucharistic Mystery. We – the congregation of the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master – are the blossom of his prayer and dream. With a “faithful YES” we belong to Jesus, the totally “consecrated one”. As we celebrate the Pauline Centenary, we also celebrate opportunely the 90th anniversary of the PDDM foundation. And as the Year of Consecrated Life begins on November 21, 2014, it is also good to recall that it is precisely on November 21, in 1923, that Blessed James Alberione set apart Orsola Rivata (= Madre Maria Scholastica) and Metilde Gerlotto (= Sr. Maria Margherita) – the first two Pious Disciples - “for a mission” to be entrusted to them by the Founder. To help us deepen the meaning of “consecration”, the following words of Venerable Mother Scholastica will be used to accompany us as we contemplate and pray the Rosary of the Queen of Apostles.

THE ROSARY OF THE QUEEN OF APOSTLES

Accompanied by the Words of Venerable Scholastica Rivata, PDDM

(N.B. Prepared by the PDDM General House)

1st MYSTERY: Let us contemplate the mystery of the Annunciation (cf. Lk 1:26-28)

Words of Mother Scholastica: “Immaculate Mary, obtain from the Lord the grace to have a great and perfect love for him. May I fulfill his will generously as you did: Behold the handmaid of the Lord! Let what pleases him be done to me. Obtain for me a perfect sorrow for sin and the grace not to offend him.”

Our Father ... 10 Hail Marys ... Glory Be ...

2nd MYSTERY: Let us contemplate the mystery that Blessed Alberione called “the second Annunciation. (cf. Jn 19:25-27)

Words of Mother Scholastica: “O my God, let your holy will be done in me. Grant me the grace never to go against you. I desire what you want because you want it; and I desire how you want it and as much as you want it. Jesus Master, you are my life, my divine Wisdom, my only Love. I want to live in you, in silence with creatures, in humble union with you continually; conversing with you, offering you all, adoring your Holy Will, and accepting whatever comes from you. You are the sole Author of the good I do and the good done in me, being one in you and with you. It is no longer I who live; it is Christ who dwells and lives in me. What succeeds and what is good belong to you. “Without me you can do nothing!” Therefore I offer you all. Take what I have – my failures – and let them burn in the fire of your love. Wash them in your precious Blood.”

Our Father ... 10 Hail Marys ... Glory Be ...

3rd MYSTERY: Let us contemplate Mary at the Birthing of the Church in the Cenacle. (cf. Acts 1:8, 14)

Words of Mother Scholastica: “Jesus, make me a saint! Grant me your grace and divine Wisdom, and your humble heart. Free me from temptation, from every evil of soul and body. (...) Lord, how good you are! Thank you for your immense gifts. Increase my faith and your love, humility and divine Wisdom. Through fidelity to God and in the exercise of virtues, prepare me to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Come, O Holy Spirit, and fill my heart with the fire of your love – of your pure, perfect, holy love.”

Our Father ... 10 Hail Marys ... Glory Be ...

4th MYSTERY: Let us contemplate the Assumption into Glory of Mary, the first fruit and image of the Church. (cf. Rev 12:1)

Words of Mother Scholastica: “Mother Mary, thank the Lord for me for his infinite mercy to this least and most unworthy creature. Grant me the grace to atone in this life for all my sins. Pray that I may die in the perfect love of God and with perfect contrition for all my sins. Obtain for me sentiments of deep humility and the plenary indulgence at the moment of death.”

Our Father ... 10 Hail Marys ... Glory Be ...

5th MYSTERY: Let us contemplate Mary in her unending ministry of “giving Jesus, the life and salvation of the world”. (Lk 1:42-45)

Words of Mother Scholastica: “Lord, grant countless priestly, religious and missionary vocations to your Church and make them faithful and holy. In their ministry, let them respond to the needs of those you have created, redeemed and destined for glory. Lord, grant me, a mortal creature, the highest and the loftiest love possible. Let me best respond to your eternal, infinite and divine love revealed through the merits – the blood, passion and death – of your Son. Jesus, transform me into your image and likeness that I may please the Father. Make me your true Spouse – a co-redeeming Spouse.”

Our Father ... 10 Hail Marys ... Glory Be ...
