SILENT ADORATION
WORDS OF BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE ON THE PDDM FOUNDATION
In 1908, I began to pray and to have prayers said that a religious family might come into being, a family marked by a hidden life, and dedicated to adoration and to the priestly and liturgical apostolate; a family which would completely belong to Jesus the Divine Master present in the Eucharistic Mystery.
Why? So that it might become a source of grace from which other religious families, those dedicated to apostolic life, could draw. Later on, through prayer, the way of life of this Family and the concrete form of its relationship with other families that were to be instituted, took shape.
OPENING PRAYER: “Glory to You”
Glory to you, O Holy Trinity, for the gift of Rule of Life approved and blessed by the Church. Glory to you, O Father, who calls us from every people and nation to live the abundant riches of your grace as disciples of your Son Jesus! Glory to you, O Jesus, Teacher and Lord, the living Gospel transmitted by our Rule of Life, the sure way of sanctification and of apostolate. In obedience to your Word and nourished by the Bread of life, we joyfully proclaim Easter in the power of the Spirit. Glory to you, O Creator Spirit, who enables us to gather the positive aspirations of our time! Grant us the flexibility and openness to examine these norms regularly and adapt them to the changing circumstance of history in creative fidelity to the charism of Fr. James Alberione. Glory to you, O Holy Trinity, who arouse in us the nostalgia and desire for your house while, as a pilgrim Church, we walk toward you, with Mary, Queen of Apostles, Saint Paul and all the saints. May you be praised, O Father, through Jesus Christ, our Way, Truth and Life, in unity with the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
FIRST READING: Song of Song 8:6-7 “Love is strong as death.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION
SONG: “Center of My Life” (Paul Inwood) or another appropriate one
WORDS OF MADRE SCHOLASTICA RIVATA
May Jesus alone be your Master and your only love. Give him all without fear and without reserve because he loves without measure and with infinite mercy. Say at every moment that beautiful word: Jesus, I love you! Say it thousand times a day in the secret of your heart. In doing so you have done what is more important because love alone is everything.
ALLLELUIA – GOSPEL: Lk 10:36-41 “Jesus Visits Martha and Mary”
HOMILY and/or PERSONAL REFLECTION
PRAYER: For the PDDM, please use “Come Jesus Master” (cf. The Prayers of the Pauline Family, p. 217); for the other members of the Pauline Family, please use “Invocations to Jesus Master” (op. cit., p. 214)
POINTS FOR THE EXAMINATION OF THE HEART: FROM THE WORDS OF MOTHER SCHOLASTICA RIVATA
May you have only one dream: to love Jesus unceasingly. He is your sole LOVE, your total ALL. Everything else is nothing.
PAULINE FAMILY’S PRAYER TO THE TRINITY FOR OUR ONE HUNDRED-YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CHURCH
Blessed Trinity, Source of the divine light that shines in us, we offer you our joyous praise and thanksgiving as we celebrate our first century of life as the Pauline Family.
Immensely tender Father, we thank you for the wealth of graces you have poured out so abundantly on our Family during these years of service to the Church. Thank you for the miracles of apostolic holiness you realized in Blessed James Alberione, our Founder; in Blessed Timothy Giaccardo; in Maestra Thecla; in Mother Scholastica and in many other members of the “marvelous Pauline Family”. Thank you, Father, for all the initiatives of our various apostolic sectors that have helped to make your name known and adored and that have manifested your glory through the wonders of communication.
Divine Master, Good Shepherd, we humbly ask you to forgive us for not always responding generously to the requirements of our mission. Forgive us for failing to dedicate sufficient time and attention to getting to know your Word and the depths of our charism. Forgive us for trusting more in our own abilities and means than in the gift of infinite mercy.
Holy Spirit, Paraclete, we beg you through the intercession of Mary, Queen of Apostles, to gift with great wisdom those whom you have appointed as our guides. Help them accurately discern the paths by which you want to lead our Family. Fill us with your breath of life, as in a renewed Pentecost. Make us capable of new prophecy so as to fully realize the dream of our Blessed Founder: to live and give Christ, Way, Truth and Life to the people of our time and to be “Paul living today” in the Church.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.
PERSONAL RESOLUTION: In silence
SONG: “Lead Me, Lord” (John Becker) or another fitting song
A DECADE OF ROSARY: The Fifth Mystery of Light – “The Institution of the Eucharist”
(N.B. For the PDDM, the following words of Blessed James Alberione may be used to introduce the mystery of the Rosary.)
Words of Blessed James Alberione: In that year when your special mission had its beginning, on the feast of St. Scholastica, God’s designs over the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master were very clear. The various events have been for God’s greater glory and for your greater sanctification. Today’s resolution: to be ever more Pious Disciples each day, conformed to Mary, confidantes of Jesus Host, active members on the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, the Church, in this life and in eternity. (…) May souls find their way to the Eucharistic Master; may liturgical worship be always in harmony with the spirit of the Church; may eternal rest be granted to the souls of priests, men and women religious … Rekindle in you today all the grace of your Institution, of your profession, of your devotion to the Divine Master.
OFFERING OF PRAYER INTENTIONS
(N.B. Prayer intentions may be written beforehand. With fitting instrumental music, they may now be offered before the altar or near the picture of Mother Scholastica, after which the assembly prays the following.)
MADRE SCHOLASTICA PRAYER
O Jesus, our sole Master, Way, Truth and Life, we praise and bless you for your Disciple Sr. Mary Scholastica Rivata. Sustained by the Holy Spirit and with the strength of the Eucharist, in the joys and sufferings of her daily life she accepted the Father’s will. In the footsteps of Mary, your and our Mother, she offered herself joyfully in the service of God
and of her neighbor. May her example help us to choose the way of the Gospel in every circumstance of our lives. Through her intercession grant us the grace we ask …
Glory be to the Father …
EUCHARISTIC BENEDICTION may follow.
FINAL SONG: “Magnificat” (any version)
