A Pauline Centenary Pastoral Tool: Eucharistic Adoration n. 2

PAULINE SPIRITUALITY AND MISSION ***

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: "LIGHT OF FAITH"

SONG: "Panis Angelicus" (BB # 367) or another suitable song

PRAYER

Jesus, Divine Master, we adore you as the Word Incarnate sent by the Father to instruct us in life-giving truths. You are uncreated Truth, the only Master. You alone have words of eternal life. We thank you for having imparted to us the light of reason and the light of faith, and for having called us to the light of glory. We believe, submitting our whole mind to you and to the Church. Master, show us the treasures of your wisdom, let us know the Father, make us your true disciples. Increase our faith so that we may attain to the eternal vision in heaven.

ALLELUIA--GOSPEL: Jn 20:24-29

PRAYER

I firmly believe, my God, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as I believe in the resurrection of the body. Every day I want to arise to a new life so as to merit to rise in the glory of the last day.

SONG: "We Walk By Faith" (BB # 450) or another suitable song

CREDO: "I BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER ..."

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH n. 315: "In the creation of the world and of man, God gave the first and universal witness to his almighty love and wisdom..."

WORDS OF BLESSED ALBERIONE (Cf. Brevi Meditazioni n.3 #1-#2)

To the Father is attributed the creation and the governance of the universe. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, the plants, the animals, humankind. In his omnipotence he drew forth from nothing all that exists. God concurs in bringing forth human beings, creating the soul and infusing it into the body.

He disposes of all the events, rules the history and guides the ages: indeed, by divine will, they prepare the coming of the Son of God, fulfilled, fulfill and will fulfill it, from the incarnation until the universal judgment, when the glory of the kingdom of Jesus Christ will be manifested.

All was received from God: what surrounds, what sustains me, what is within me. If God recalls what he has given me, nothing will remain, not even my existence: I will disappear. I should always acknowledge this truth: "What do you possess that you have not received? But if you have received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it?" (I Cor 4:7)

I live under the amiable reign of the heavenly Father: I ought to abandon myself to his providence. If we consider the lilies on the field and the birds of the air, we realize how much more he cares for us, his image and creature! Even the hairs on our head are counted.

SILENT REFLECTION

PRAYER FOR ONE'S VOCATION

Heavenly Father, I believe in your wisdom and love. I believe you created me for heaven, marked out for me the way to reach it, and await me there to give me the reward of the faithful servant. Give me light and show me this way. Grant me the strength to follow it generously. I beg this of you, through Jesus Christ your Son and through Mary my Queen and Mother. At the moment of death, may I be able to say with St. Paul: "I have finished the course. I have fought the good fight. Now there is laid up for me the crown of the just."

SONG: "How Great Thou Art" (BB # 418)

ASSEMBLY: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

CREDO: "I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD ..."

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH n. 423: "We believe and confess that Jesus of Nazareth, born a Jew of a daughter of Israel at the time of King Herod the Great and the emperor Caesar Augustus, a carpenter by trade, who died crucified in Jerusalem under the procurator Pontius Pilate during the reign of the emperor Tiberius, is the eternal Son of God made man."

WORDS OF BLESSED ALBERIONE (Cf. Brevi Meditazioni n.4 #1-#2)

The humanity that has sinned in Adam merited being left in the fallen state it has chosen to be. But the Son of God said to the Father: "Ecce, mitte me: Here I am; send me" (Is 6:8). And the only begotten Son became flesh by the work of the Holy Spirit. He became the son of Mary, lived a most holy life of toil and sorrow; he taught us the way to heaven by his example and by his highest doctrine. He instituted the Church, the Priesthood, the Sacraments: he suffered and died on the cross for our sins; he opens Paradise for us; risen from the dead, he ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to the Church.

Those who welcome the incarnate Son of God become children of God by adoption in the Holy Spirit. Thus it was when the Son became visible on this earth; so it was yesterday, so it is today and so it will be through the ages. Who welcomes the Son of God? The one who: a) believes in the doctrine taught by him and proclaimed today by the Church; b) follows the most holy examples of humility, charity, work, prayer; c) receives the most holy sacraments instituted for them as channels of grace that flow from his heart to souls, and nurtures a great piety toward the Sacrifice of the Mass.

SILENT REFLECTION

PRAYER

Jesus, Divine Master, we adore you as the only-begotten Son of God, come on the earth to give Life, the most abundant life to humanity. We thank you because by dying on the cross, you merited life for us, which you give us in baptism and nourish in the Eucharist and in the other Sacraments. Live in us, Jesus, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, so that we may love you with our whole mind, strength and heart, and love our neighbor as ourselves for love of you. Increase charity in us, so that one day, called from the sepulcher to the glorious life, we may be united with you in the eternal happiness in heaven.

SONG: "Jesus, Lord" (BB # 447)

ASSEMBLY: I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven.

CREDO: "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT ..."

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH n. 689: "The One whom the Father has sent into our hearts, the Spirit of his Son, is truly God. Consubstantial with the Father and the Son, the Spirit is inseparable from them, in both the inner life of the Trinity and his gift of love for the world."

WORDS OF BLESSED ALBERIONE (Cf. Brevi Meditazioni n.5 #1-#2)

Jesus Christ was conceived and sanctified by the work of the Holy Spirit. Before ascending to heaven he promised to send the Holy Spirit to his disciples and maintained this promise on the day of Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church and renders her infallible, indefectible and holy. The Holy Spirit dwells in us in baptism, augments his power in Confirmation, and is united more closely to the just who carry out good works. Moreover, the Holy Spirit gives the actual grace of illustration, inspiration and elevation.

The Holy Spirit, entering by grace into the soul, infuses faith, gives hope and enflames charity. He communicates the seven gifts: intellect, wisdom, knowledge, counsel, piety, strength, fear of God.

Moreover, he brings about a certain joy or beatitude that is a foretaste of the full heavenly beatitude: in the poor of spirit, in the meek, in the suffering, in those who hunger and thirst for justice, in the persecuted. Furthermore, he brings twelve precious fruits.

SILENT REFLECTION

PRAYER

Divine Holy Spirit, eternal Love of the Father and of the Son, I adore you, I thank you, I love you, and I ask you pardon for all the times I have grieved you in myself and in my neighbor. Descend with many graces during the holy ordination of bishops and priests, during the consecration of men and women religious, during the reception of Confirmation by all the faithful; be light, sanctity and zeal. To you, O Spirit of Truth, I consecrate my mind, imagination and memory; enlighten me. May I know Jesus Christ our Master and understand his Gospel and the teaching of holy Church. Increase in me the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, understanding and counsel. To you sanctifying Spirit, I consecrate my will. Guide me in your will, sustain me in the observance of the commandments, in the fulfillment of my duties. Grant me the gifts of fortitude and holy fear of God. To you, life-giving Spirit, I consecrate my heart. Guard and increase the divine life in me. Grant me the gift of piety. Amen.

SONG: "One Spirit, One Church" (BB # 416) or another suitable song

ASSEMBLY: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

SILENT PRAYER--A DECADE OF ROSARY

PRAYER TO MARY: By Pope Francis (cf. Encyclical "Lumen Fidei")

Mother, help our faith! Open our ears to hear God's word and to recognize his voice and call. Awaken in us a desire to follow in his footsteps, to go forth from our own land and to receive his promise. Help us to be touched by his love, that we may touch him in faith. Help us to entrust ourselves fully in him and to believe in his love, especially at times of trial, beneath the shadow of the cross, when our faith is called to mature. Sow in our faith the joy of the Risen One. Remind us that those who believe are never alone. Teach us to see all things with the eyes of Jesus that he may be light for our path. And may this light of faith always increase in us, until the dawn of that undying day which is Christ himself, your Son, our Lord!

FINAL SONG: "Faith of Our Fathers" (BB # 452) or another suitable song
