WORDS OF VENERBALE BEDE
Our Lord and Savior wishes us to attain the joy of the heavenly kingdom, and so he taught us to pray for it, promising to give it to us if we did so. Ask, he said, and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. We should consider most seriously and attentively what these words of the Lord may mean for us, for they warn that not the idle and feckless but those who ask, seek, and knock will receive, find and have the door opened to them. We must therefore ask for entry into the kingdom of prayer, seek it by upright living, and knock at its door by perseverance … As we do our best, then, to follow in our Lord’s footsteps, let us ask God the Father for the grace of his Spirit to lead us along the path of that true faith which works through love.
SILENT ADORATION
OPENING PRAYER
Leader: God our Father and protector,
without you nothing is holy,
nothing has value.
Guide us to everlasting life
by helping us to use wisely
the blessings you have given to the world.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Assembly: Amen.

Part II
JESUS MASTER WAY
Confrontation with the Word
POINTS FOR THE EXAMINATION OF THE HEART
A. How does Abraham’s dialogue with God impact us? What does it mean to dialogue with him? Do we endeavor to dialogue with God intimately and trustingly as a true friend?
B. What are the various elements of the Lord’s Prayer that touch and challenge us most? Do we meditate and give value to the prayer that the Lord Jesus taught us as his disciples? Do we thank the Lord Jesus for having taught us this beautiful prayer? Do we strive to make the Lord’s Prayer a living reality in our personal lives?
C. Do we trust that the Father to whom our prayer is addressed is a benevolent and compassionate God who wills and promotes our utmost good? In response to his absolute goodness and infinite care for us, do we ask … do we seek … do we knock at his door? Do we believe that this compassionate Father is giving us the most fabulous gift – the Holy Spirit with his abounding gifts?
III. PRAYING WITH THE WORD
Leader: Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,
and do not subject us to the final test.
Assembly: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and forever.
Amen.
Part III
JESUS LIFE
Acting upon the Word
PERSONAL PRAYER
CONTEMPLATING WITH MARY THE FACE OF CHRIST: The Mysteries of Light of the Rosary may be prayed in part or in full.
THE WAY OF SOLIDARITY: PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
Priest: With trust and confidence, let us present our petitions to our loving God who gave us the gift of his Son, the Eucharistic Master. Let us say to him:
(R.) LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.
1. For the Holy Father’s General Intention for this month of July: FOR THE COMMON GOOD: That all citizens may participate actively in working to achieve and maintain the common good. We pray: (R.)
2. For the Holy Father’s Mission Intention for this month of July: FOR HELP FOR MISSIONARIES: That all Christians, aware of their missionary duty, may actively help those engaged in the evangelization of peoples. We pray: (R.)
3. That today’s Christian disciples may grasp more deeply the meaning and the challenge of the Lord’s Prayer. We pray: (R.)
4. That God’s kingdom of love, justice and peace may come upon those who yearn for it. We pray: (R.)
5. That all of us may endeavor to bring about the sanctification of God’s name, the coming of his kingdom, and the doing of his will in the daily events of our daily life and through our loving service to our neighbors in need. We pray: (R.)
(Other prayers may be added.)
THE LORD’S PRAYER
CONCLUDING PRAYER
Leader: God our Father,
open our eyes to see your hand at work
in the splendor of creation,
in the beauty of human life.
Touched by your hand our world is holy.
Help us to cherish the gifts that surround us,
to share your blessings with our brothers and sisters,
and to experience the joy of life in your presence.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Assembly: Amen.
